Outreach Grants

The Church of Our Saviour Outreach Grants for the past year:

  • Interfaith Social Services serving South Shore communities: $1,500. A multi-service human service agency located in Quincy that serves people in need living on the South Shore.
  • Milton Community Food Pantry: $1,411. The MCFP is an interfaith ministry that provides assistance to over 100 individuals living in Milton. The COS volunteers include: Janet Carlson, Bill Keyes, Rene Taber & Kate Zilla-Ba. COS volunteers on the 2nd and 5th Saturdays of the month. COS members also donate on the average of 2 bags of canned goods and other non-perishables per week to the MCFP.
  • St. David’s Episcopal Mission in Halifax, MA: $1,000. This is the fourth year of a five year $9,000 commitment to support the Episcopal Mission Congregation of Halifax, MA. This is a cooperative venture involving the Diocese and member congregations of the South Shore Deanery.
  • Children’s International: $343 for “Joy”, our sponsored child in the Philippines.
  • Old Colony Hospice, serving communities in Southeastern MA: $1,300. COS was a major sponsor of the OCH Spring Walk and Fall Gala Event.
  • Nine student educational grants: $2,250
  • Henry Martyn Institute in Hyderbad, India: $500
  • American Cancer Society: $500
  • iCelebrate Milton!: $500. COS was a major sponsor of the iCM! event in September. COS member volunteers include Lori Bilewicz, Roseanna Fernandes, Paul Melanson, and Rene Taber.
  • The Bishop’s Discretionary Fund: $500. For theological education.
  • Cunningham Park: $100. Donation for plantings.
  • The Refugee Immigration Ministry: $761 . A new Milton interfaith ministry that is providing shelter and support for a refugee from the Congo. John McLaughlin is the RIM Secretary.
  • AIDS Action Committee: $500. For research and direct services.
  • Doctors Without Borders: $200. An organization that provides medical services in some of the most dangerous places throughout the world.
  • Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Fund: $100.
  • Canton Lions Club Project: $100. A project that provided our service men & women with telephone calling cards to call their families over the holidays.
  • Street Ministry in India: $250. Tara D’Souza’s Project for indigents in Hyderbad, India.

(Grand Total - $11,545 of which $11,000 were grants approved by the Vestry and $545 were donations from the congregation that were received from specifically designated offerings This represents 10% of our operating budget.)
